Jay Leno usually reviews some of the most amazing cars in the world, and there is nothing we like more than watching him talk about them. But the latest episode of Jay Leno's Garage is a little bit different. There is no car featured. Instead, it features one of the biggest car guys of the moment: Elon Musk. And while is Musk is at Tesla, this time Musk is at his other company: SpaceX. Jay Leno gets a private tour of the factory from the big guy himself. It shouldn’t actually be a surprise to anyone, as SpaceX represents the future of transportation. Or at least this is what Musk hopes.

SpaceX Is The Future Of Humanity, But There Is A Catch

Founded in 2002 by Elon Musk, SpaceX's main goal is the colonization of Mars. In other words, the company wants to build a reusable rocket that can go back and forth to Mars from Earth carrying up to 100 people at once. Easy to say, not that easy to do. Even if space is just 62 miles above the Earth, the low orbit sits at around 100 to 1,200 miles from the planet, and it is very hard to achieve. First because it takes a lot of propellant to get there, but also because it is very difficult to maintain a high enough speed to stay in orbit. If a vehicle can't maintain a fast-enough orbital velocity it will fall back into the atmosphere and burn out at re-entry. And, with the cost of launching going up to $97,000,000, it is very important to do your homework right. Still, Musk is very confident that eventually he will be successful, and his dream of creating a self-sustaining city on Mars will become reality.

Elon Musk takes Jay Leno to Texas where he shows him the SpaceX launch facility called Starbase - a place where all the magic happens. The place has about 500 employees and their focus is building these rockets that will take us to the red planet. Of course, the process of building these is very difficult, but Musk hopes that the company will eventually be able to build one of these a month. The big plan is to eventually be able to build one every three days, until SpaceX will have a fleet of 1,000 rockets. After the rockets will be built, if the company will be able to send 100 people in 1,000 rockets every two years, in about 20 years there should be around 1 billion people colonizing Mars.

Check what Musk has to say about his ambition plan, and let us know if you will embark on one of these rockets when they will be done.

FAQ

Q: What kind of camera do bikers use?

Many bikers use GoPro because of the huge amount of mounting options they produce, making it easy to attach to any helmet or any bike.

Q: Where do you put your camera on your motorcycle helmet?

Most cameras are mounted on top of the helmet, but they can also be mounted on the side. If it's a 360° camera, then on top would be best.

Q: Are GoPros allowed on motorcycle helmets?

At the moment, there is no legislation that says you can't mount an action camera on a helmet, although the F.I.M., the international motorsport governing body, has outlawed them in competition due to the increased risk of injury in the event of an accident.
