One of the most appealing things about the R34 GT-R, at least for us in the United States, is that it was never available for our market. That's right, the R34 GT-R was never exported to the U.S., and therefore every single one that exists is a right-hand drive model. There's something about not being able to have something that makes you want it that much more. The R34 is truly the stuff of legends. Nissan was able to produce a vehicle that cost the fraction of what supercars did during its heyday, and the R34 was able to outperform many of them. Whether it was because it was the fastest car you could purchase in Gran Turismo 2, you loved watching Initial D, grew up watching the Fast and Furious franchise, or are obsessed with legendary Japanese vehicles, the R34 GT-R has a special place in most enthusiasts' hearts - it's the Japanese sports car that enthusiasts from all different backgrounds have come to respect. Thought it has now been over two decades since the R34's production, it is a constant contender in the conversation of best Japanese sports cars ever built. They don't call it Godzilla for nothing.

It's nice to know that Lego hired a proper enthusiast to design the set. It features iconic blue stripes on silver body, the blue spoiler to match, the GT-R front grill, and even a nitrous fuel canister on the passenger seat. This set stays true to the car we see in the movie with great attention to detail.

With all that being said, we cannot gloss over the fact that a figurine of Paul Walker (Brian O'Conner in the Fast and Furious movies) is included in this set. To many, Paul Walker was the James Dean of the millennial generation. Most notable for his performance in the Fast and Furious movies, he was not just an actor, he was an enthusiast in real life. His tragic death hit the car community hard, and there were and still are memorials held throughout the year in honor of Walker. For the die-hard collector or for the casual consumer, this Lego set is a great purchase.
