After the Blazer EV and Silverado 1500 EV, Chevrolet continues its venture into the EV world with the launch of the new Equinox EV. After we had a short, first glimpse of the crossover in early 2022, today Chevy dropped the official details and images on the model that will go on sale later in 2023. The Equinox EV will be offered in LT and RS configurations and has a maximum range of 300 miles.

The Equinox EV isn't the same as the ICE Model

Since Chevrolet already offered us the first glimpse of the Equinox EV back in January 2022, the way the crossover looks was no secret. The EV will be lower, longer, and wider than its ICE-powered brother, and, according to the company, its design "has an athletic, bold and commanding appearance that is instantly recognizable as a Chevy SUV." You can choose between two configurations - LT and RS - each offered in several trims, drive configurations, and range options. The LT models will be distinguished by a two-tone white roof, while the RS will get a black roof. It will be offered with standard 19-inch wheels, but you can also opt for 20- and 21-inch wheels depending on the trim.

How about the interior?

On the inside, the Equinox EV offers a spacious cabin with room for five adults. The crossover comes with an 11-inch digital instrument cluster and 11-inch infotainment system, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, and even a heated windshield wiper park feature. The EV is also a very spacious crossover: with the rear seats folded it offers a maximum cargo room of 57 cubic feet (1,614 liters).

On the safety side Chevy included automatic emergency braking, follow distance indicator, forward collision alert, lane keep assist, automatic headlights, and rear park assist. As an option, you can also opt for Super Cruise and adaptive cruise control.

What powers the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV?

The 2024 Equinox EV will be offered with two drivetrain layouts. As standard, it will be offered with a front-wheel-drive system that has one single electric motor with 210 horsepower and 242 pound-feet of torque. As an option, Chevy is offering a dual-motor all-wheel drive system with 290 horsepower and 346 pound-feet of torque.

What range does the 2024 Chevrolet Equinox EV have?

The 2024 Equinox EV will feature GM's Ultium batteries. The company did not reveal the sizes of the two batteries it will offer but announced the range will be between 250 and 300 miles. The Equinox EV will also benefit from regenerative braking, which can convert the kinetic energy of the vehicle’s forward momentum into electricity that’s stored in the battery pack to maximize the driving range.
