The world has evolved a lot since Tesla launched its first electric car – the Roadster – back in 2008. Now, 15 years later, we can talk about almost as many electric cars as ICE-powered ones, and some of them are way better than their gasoline-powered counterparts. With the abundance of electric cars and trucks arriving lately, there are quite a few of them that we can’t wait to drive. Some of them deliver great performance figures, some are fast, some are cheap, and some are just simply interesting because of their nature. Ranging from the Cybertruck – which caught our attention right from the moment it was announced – to no-name trucks like the Alpha Wolf, these will be the electric trucks we would like to drive at some point.

To everyone's surprise, Rivian beat makers like GM, Ford, or Tesla when it launched the R1T - the first fully electric pickup truck – back in 2021. First announced as a concept in 2018, the R1T is powered by four electric motors - two placed up front and two in the year – that produce a combined 835 horsepower and 908 pound-feet of torque. Customers can choose between three different batteries: 105 kWh, 135 kWh, and 180 kWh, and can get up to 400 miles of range. The R1T is also a very capable truck: it runs from 0 to 60 mph in 3.0 seconds and can tow up to 11,000 pounds. It also features a very luxurious cabin, and benefits from some of the best off-roading capabilities in the world. And, the best part is that Rivian is currently preparing a feature called "Tank Turn" which will allow the truck to turn very easily in small places and even on sand, mud, and snow. The R1T is priced from $73,000.

The Cybertruck caught our attention ever since Tesla announced it for the first time back in 2019. It was like no other truck seen before, with a funky exterior look and some other cool features that are supposed to make it rather unique. Although initially Elon Musk announced the Cybertruck will also have a quad-motor setup, he offered no other details on it. Instead, the truck will be offered with the usual dual-motor and tri-motor arrangements we've seen in the other Tesla cars, but with a different 48-volt architecture that will help it deliver more power. There are no details on the power figures, but the Cybertruck should be good for up to 500 miles of range and will be capable of towing up to 14,000 pounds. It will also be one of the fastest trucks in the world - the sprint from 0 to 60 mph should be made in just 2.9 seconds - and let’s face it, who would not like to have Ferrari performance figures in a truck? It will also be rather affordable, with prices starting from $39,900.

They deliver a combined 1,000 horsepower and 11,500 pound-feet of torque. The truck is fast by its nature, but GM is offering a Watts to Freedom performance feature which allows it to sprint from 0 to 60 mph in just three seconds. It also has a range of 329 miles and can tow up to 7,500 pounds. But the Hummer EV not only delivers great performance figures, but is also a good off-roader, has a great exterior look, and offers plenty of space on the inside. With over 500,000 units sold in 2022, the Chevrolet Silverado (ICE-powered version) is one of the best-sold trucks in the U.S. This of course comes as no surprise to anyone, the same way nobody was surprised by Chevy's decision to unveil an all-electric version for it. Currently, it can only be had in RST First Edition with a combined output of 754 horsepower and more than 785 pound-feet of torque, and Silverado Work Truck with a combined 510 horsepower and 615 pound-feet of torque. It promises a range of up to 400 miles, and sprints from 0 to 60 mph in just 4.5 seconds, which makes it a true competitor on the market. One of the best features of the Silverado EV is its multi-flex midgate which allows it to carry very large items. It offers lots of cool technology features, and a modern, ultra-luxurious interior, but it also has a starting price of $39,990. However, the Chevrolet Silverado EV RST First Edition is priced at $105,000.

Ford beat Chevy into offering an electric version for its most capable truck. On sale for less than a year now, the F-150 Lightning proves it will most likely follow in the footsteps of its ICE brother: there are already 20,000 units sold. It can be had with either a standard range battery. In which case it delivers a combined 452 horsepower, or with an extended range battery where it puts out 580 horsepower and 775 pound-feet of torque. The Platinum trim is the one you should want to drive, as it is very fast: it goes from 0 to 60 mph in 4.0 seconds and runs the quarter mile in 12.7 seconds at 107 mph. The F-150 Lightning has a range of up to 320 miles, and with the extended range battery can tow up to 10,000 pounds. If Toyota is good at something that is at building trucks: look at the Tundra or the Tacoma. So, the company's decision to offer an electric version of the Tacoma raised a lot of interest, and we can't wait to see how the final product will look. Unfortunately, we still have a lot of waiting to do, as the all-electric pickup truck will not come before the end of 2024. It will be built on Toyota's TNGA-K platform, and it should look like the electric concept Toyota unveiled in 2021. There are no details on its electric powertrain just yet, but it will most likely feature a high-tech electric powertrain that will deliver more power and torque than the current gas-powered Tacoma. The Electric Tacoma should be priced at about $50,000.
