After the recently released teaser image for the Alpenglow, Alpine has finally lifted the curtain on its new sports car. With its futuristic design and hydrogen combustion engine, the model is not intended for series production, but it does provide a glimpse of the brand's future design language and technical future.

With a length of over five meters, a width of more than two meters and a height of under one meter, the Alpenglow's extreme proportions give it an LMDh racing car appearance. A bird's eye view shows the aerodynamic body is made up of two interlocking triangles, reminiscent of a wing suit. The special light signature at the front and rear is also particularly striking. The front lights are presented with classic Alpine design, their bright red color symbolizing a comet entering the earth's atmosphere. The rear lights at the rear, on the other hand, with their blue coloring are intended to indicate the built-in hydrogen drive.

According to Alpine's official statement, the sculpted shapes of the concept, along with the light signature and snowflake/triangle references, are meant to embody the brand's future design language. The colors and materials used in Alpenglow are again inspired by natural elements and conditions, and are also meant to be harbingers of the future. Some features shown here are therefore likely to be found in future production models. However, a first model could be a race car with which Alpine intends to enter the LMDh category.

The Alpenglow follows a basic single-seat layout with the driver sitting in the middle between two water drop-shaped hydrogen tanks. The concept's many transparent elements are also striking. These include not only the helmet-like cockpit but also other exterior and interior parts. On the exterior, this applies to the active rear wing and the snowflake-shaped rims, while in the interior, the pedals, shift paddles, engine cover and even prism-shaped ignition keys are transparent. The steering wheel was designed against the backdrop of LPM1 and F1 race cars and features two integrated knobs and an overtaking button that allows the car's full potential to be realized.

Unfortunately, the Dieppe-based marque has not revealed much about the technical specifications of the model. For this reason, all we know is that the Alpenglow is powered by a hydrogen-powered engine fed by two 700-bar cylindrical hydrogen tanks. According to Alpine, the engine produces, "virtually nothing but steam and roaring engine noise," making it a potential solution for sustainable mobility in the future. The marque is convinced that hydrogen technology also has a future alongside purely electric cars.
