2014 is shaping up to be a great year for Ford->ke31. The redesigned Mustang->ke428 is set to go on sale as the first version of the pony to reach global markets, while the new-generation F-150 introduces the aluminum body to the pickup-truck segment. New additions also include the revised Expedition SUV->ke145 and Transit van, introduced for the first time in North America as a replacement for the long-running E Series.

2015 will be equally busy, with several new or refreshed vehicles to hit dealer lots. The new Super Duty trucks, the Edge->ke409 crossover, and the restyled Focus->ke440 are the most important additions that come to mind. But Ford has a lot more going on for the remainder of the decade, according to Automotive News, who managed to obtain more details about what Ford may have in store for the next three years. Trucks

Ford F-150

We already know everything there is to know about the aluminum F-150 and the fact that Ford is dropping no less than six models for the 2015 model year, including the Tremor, Raptor, STX, FX2, FX4 and Limited. But whether any of these versions, and especially the Raptor, will return is still a mystery. However, Auto News reports that FoMoCo's biggest novelty for the 2016 model year as far as the F-150 is concerned will be addition of a brand-new, 10-speed automatic transmission. Developed together with General Motors, the unit will replace the current six-speed. 2016 could also see the additional of turbo-diesel powerplants to the F-150 lineup.

Ford Super Duty

The Super Duty lineup received important updates for the 2015 model year, right before the new-generation trucks are set arrive. Aluminum bodies are likely, but Ford has yet to confirm its larger trucks will benefit from the same treatment as the F-150. Either way, the next-generation Super Duty range will arrive in February 2016.

Crossovers and SUVs

Ford EcoSport

Currently not available in the United States, the EcoSport subcompact crossover is likely to hit U.S. shores in 2016 or 2017 under a different name, Auto News reports. The vehicle has been a big hit for Ford in South America, India and China, which is why the Blue Oval manufacturer is considering expanding its availability to new markets.

The Expedition gets a ton of new features for the 2015 model year, including Sync with MyFord Touch and Blind Spot Information System with cross traffic alert, continuously controlled damping, and electric power-assisted steering. More importantly, the aging 5.4-liter, V-8 engine has been dropped in favor of a 3.5-liter, EcoBoost V-6. Expect the SUV to gain an aluminum body for the 2017 model year.

Ford Expedition

Redesigned for the 2013 model year, the Escape, Ford's best-selling crossover, will continue unchanged until 2016, when a new front grille and a revised instrument cluster will be offered as part of the vehicle's mid-cycle refresh. The next-gen model will break cover in late 2017 for the 2018 model year with a 1.5-liter, EcoBoost engine and a nine-speed automatic.

Ford Escape

Slightly updated for 2015, the fifth-generation Explorer will receive its mid-cycle refresh for 2016, with revisions will include new front and rear fascias. A completely new iteration is due in 2017 for the 2018 model year. Like most Fords, the Explorer too will receive the company's nine-speed automatic transmission.

Cars

Ford Fiesta

Facelifted for 2014, the Fiesta isn't scheduled to receive major changes over the next three years. However, Ford may shift production to Thailand before the next-gen model arrives in 2017.

Ford Focus

Also refreshed for 2015, the current Ford Focus will be redesigned from the ground up for the 2018 model year. Production of the Focus Electric will continue at least until the current generation model is replaced, despite slow sales across the U.S.

Ford C-Max

Ford C-Max too will be redesigned for the 2018 model year, but not before receiving a small refresh for 2016. Auto News also reports the C-Max could be offered as a fuel cell vehicle with technology resulting from a partnership between Ford, Daimler and Nissan Renault.
