The Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride is an annual event to raise awareness of men’s mental health and prostate cancer. It began in 2012, soon joined by Triumph Motorcycles as an official partner in 2014. This partnership will turn 10 this year, and it’s only fair Triumph celebrates the feat with a special motorcycle. Doing just that, the British bikemaker has unveiled the 2023 Bonneville T120 Black Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride (DGR) limited edition. Only 250 units will go on sale, each ripe with several special touches.

A two-tone livery helps the DGR edition set apart from the other T120s

Like most Triumph DGR editions, the most notable highlight here is the special colorway. It wraps the T120 in a two-tone finish - metallic Phantom Black over Crystal White - somewhat reminiscent of a black-white suit you’d wear to the DGR. This is topped by hand-painted golden pinstripes on the tank and side panels, accompanied by a dark brown leather perch. You also get official DGR branding all around to celebrate the tenth anniversary. Additionally, each motorcycle will come with a certificate of authenticity, hand-signed by Triumph CEO Nick Bloor and DGR founder Mark Hawwa. An important article, in case you sell this collectible in the future.

It employs a 1,200cc, twin-cylinder thumper

Under all this, the DGR edition is based on a T120 Black. So it employs the same 1,200cc, twin-cylinder thumper that churns out 79 horsepower and 77 pound-feet. The mill pairs up with a six-speed gearbox and slipper clutch, while rider aids - traction control, cruise control, ABS, ride modes - help put the power down efficiently.

As for underpinnings, the T120 hides a double-cradle steel chassis. It relies on 41 mm telescopic forks and preload-adjustable shock absorbers, coupled with 18/17-inch spoke wheels. Concurrently, 310 mm front discs (with Brembo calipers) and a 255 mm rear disc (with a Nissin caliper) help this 520-pound mammoth shed speed. Oh, and all these mechanicals don a matte black finish.

What’s The Price Of The Triumph T120 DGR Edition?

The DGR edition has the same underpinnings as the standard T120

Triumph USA has priced the T120 DGR edition at $13,495–an $800 hike over the T120 Black. Though you don’t get much, the money seems well-justified when you consider only 250 of these will be present around the world. Out of these, one will go to the highest fundraiser of the 2023 Distinguished Gentleman’s Ride, and 25 to Triumph’s hometown. We expect a similar number to come here, which only makes the DGR edition even more exclusive. $800 doesn’t seem like much now, does it? However, if you want an old-school motorcycle (not a collectible) on a budget, check out the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.
