Smashing looks, a simple nature, and a thumping engine is what come to mind when you think about Royal Enfield, but never speed. Even the company’s flagship 650cc lineup, a global hit, leaves you wanting more grunt, particularly so in the smaller 350s and 500s. There’s no lack of potential, though, and custom bike shops often whip up some insanely fast Royal Enfields that provide extra punch. For example, Revelry Racing’s Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 drag racer can smoke a Suzuki Hayabusa in a drag race. Don't believe it? Well, there's proof below.

The Revelry Racing Continental GT 650 boasts a 965cc heart, thanks to the S&S Cycle big bore kit

A key factor that makes this RE super fast is its engine. Revelry Racing has overhauled the 650cc, twin-cylinder mill by equipping it with an S&S Cycles big bore kit and further up-sized to bring it to 965 cubic centimeters. Topping this is a Powertronic ECU, a Rekluse clutch, and an auto-shifter. While there’s no word on the power output, it's safe to assume it is well over 70 horsepower. For reference, a stock Royal Enfield Continental GT 650 is good for 47 horsepower and 38.35 pound-feet of torque.

Interestingly, the team assures the double-cradle chassis is bone stock. However, the forks, rear shocks, flat handlebar, and wheels are all custom. The custom handlebar works alongside a steering damper for added stability. Adding to the stability cause, Revelry has also thrown in an extended swingarm to prevent wheelies on the drag strip.

How Fast Is The Continental GT 650 Drag Racer?

So how does all this stack up on the strip? Surprisingly enough, the RevElation (the official name of the bike) can complete a quarter-mile in under 10.5-seconds. It recorded a 10.53 in its last outing, and the team claims it can go faster. For comparison, this is just one-tenth of a second shy of what the 2021 Suzuki Hayabusa managed in the CarWow drag race, which makes this Continental GT 650 all the more impressive.

Revelry Racing isn’t stopping here, though. The shop is all set to hit the Bonneville Salt Flats next year and will try to take home the title for the world’s fastest Royal Enfield. Considering the RE has already breached 200kmph (120mph) at the drag strip, it will be interesting to see how fast it can go at Bonneville?
