Since 2016, this Washington-based online custom motorcycle company has been steadily releasing a special brand of bikes. Known for their unique, aggressive appearance and attitude, the company has got quite a following. Their bikes are usually short, light, and powerful, with a vibe that screams urban fighter. The latest models should cement their status as a jaw-dropping, high-performance custom motorcycle builder.
Droog Moto’s Hyperfighter
The Hyperfighter is the most powerful machine that has ever come out of Droog Moto. Tailor-made for high performance and built around power and exclusivity. It comes in two versions, Apagon (which means blackout) and Horizonte. Both are offered in naturally-aspirated or supercharged versions, which means that there are four different configurations.
Whichever bike you choose, some things in relation to design and materials will remain the same. What grabs your attention at the front is the flat-track-styled front plate with a characteristic diagonal LED headlight. Underneath is a fully adjustable suspension with discs and axial brake calipers from Nissin. The wheels are solid, and while both the Apagon and the Horizonte come equipped with amazing Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa tires, you can also choose to have completely slick racing tires instead.
Behind the front plate is a TFT display that gives the rider an opportunity to choose between different riding modes. The fuel tank is CNC machined out of lightweight materials and has that sharp and boxy design reminiscent of Droog’s previous models. The seat is short and flat, and done in suede leather which has a unique stitch pattern. It has a superbike style exhaust made out of stainless steel, and a muffler made out of carbon fiber.
Horizonte Or Apagon
The engine specifications are the key differences between these two models. Although both versions use the stripped-down and improved Kawasaki engine, the numbers are not the same.
Horizonte, in its basic, naturally aspirated version, uses what seems to be a Z900’s 948cc engine. It produces 130 horsepower at 9,500 rpm and 72 foot-pounds of torque at 7,700 rpm. It will hit 60 mph in only 2.9 seconds. The more powerful Horizonte SC has a Z H2’s 998cc engine. Supercharged, it makes 210 horsepower at 10,500 rpm and 101 foot-pounds of torque at 8,500 rpm.
Apagon has a bit more power in both configurations. It has a 953cc engine and makes 140 horsepower. It will accelerate from a standstill to 60 mph in just 2.5 seconds. Apagon SC has a supercharged 998cc engine. This one makes a staggering 230 horsepower. Not many custom bike builders can make motorcycles this powerful.
The Price Of The Hyperfighter
Pretty steep. Horizonte will set you back $50,000. The supercharged version is even more, a lot more… $70,000. Apagon, which has more power, you guessed it… is a bit more expensive too. You will need $55,000 for that one. If you like the supercharged one, with all 230 horsepower, be ready to fork out $75,000.
It might be a lot, but these are limited-production bikes from a renowned bike builder. They’re built around lightweight materials and have plenty of power. They look weird, but in a cool, menacing way. You won’t see many of these on the road, that’s for sure.
