The upcoming Cadillac Celestiq EV promises to shake up the high luxury EV segment with a package that could possibly be one of the most luxurious and modern available in the segment, and it's custom-made to tailor to each customer's desires too. Noticeably, Cadillac decided to make the Cadillac Celestiq EV in its most traditional and recognizable shape, which is that of a beautiful and large sedan, just like Americans liked their cars before the SUV craze began. It is also worth mentioning that, despite being true to its original basic form, the Cadillac Celestiq design looks quite unique, really unlike anything else on the road today. Its design pushes the boundaries of what a futuristic car should look like, while at the same time, boasting a timeless feel to it, as if you would look back to this car 40 years from now, and still find its looks appealing, much like the traditional and gorgeous Cadillacs of old we still see today.

Exclusivity Comes At A Price, And The Cadillac Celestiq EV Is No Exception

All that splendor comes at a price. The Cadillac Celestiq price is estimated to start at about $300,000. That is before the customer starts adding personal touches and switching things up as he goes through the experience of ordering one alongside a specially trained concierge at the dealership. This is a luxury barge with a true American soul, a car most will admire, rather than buying one because, well, they probably won’t be able to afford it. But that’s the exclusive nature of ultra-luxury.

The aim is for the Cadillac Celestiq, even though it’s the second EV from Cadillac, following the Lyriq crossover which went on sale earlier this year, is to be the luxury brand’s flagship EV, giving a glimpse of what Cadillac will be able to bring to its future EV cars. That makes sense since the Lyriq, even though is not a cheap vehicle, does come at a more affordable base MSRP of $58,590. Cadillac seems to be on track toward excellence with the Cadillac Celestic, despite its high price tag.

The interior of the Cadillac Celestiq EV is as flaunty as the exterior. It involves its user in a sensory experience that is created by the use of selected materials, ambient lighting that features more than 450 distinct LEDs, and visual embellishments only Cadillac can deliver. Cadillac claims no two vehicles will be alike, since there is such a large variety of colors, trims, and materials to be selected by the customer. Nevertheless, the cabin tries to not overdo it and has a minimalist aesthetic. In other words, despite all the colors and themes, the interior design is clean, which in turn, allows the small details to shine.

The client who opts for a Cadillac Celestiq EV will in fact be presented with an opportunity to express himself with the choices he makes during the acquisition process. The Celestiq is a piece of art, and Cadillac is focusing on the whole experience, immersing the customer from the beginning of the purchase process already starting to create a connection with the car. It's no wonder average production is expected to be at 1.2 cars a day with that much care put into it.

Last, but not least, the infotainment experience comes through a pillar-to-pillar 55-inch high-definition display, which is the largest in the segment, containing two screens under one pane of glass. The driver will look at a crisp, 8K definition display, while the passenger will be able to access media, use the internet, connect their phones, and more. The passenger screen is dimmed from the driver's view when in use for privacy and safety. Demand is very high for this very expensive car. It has been too long since Cadillac has had a product that could pit it against the more established luxury brands. The Cadillac Celestiq EV might just be able to help them turn the tables on its competitors.

Built on General Motors’ Ultium EV platform, which integrates the propulsion system’s battery pack as well as doubling as a structural element of the vehicle, the Cadillac Celestiq will have a dual electric motor setup and all-wheel drive. Cadillac is shooting for roughly 600 horsepower, which they claim is good for launching the big sedan from 0-60 MPH in 3.8 seconds, which is a level of performance most likely superior to what most of its customer base is looking for.

The range provided by the batteries of the Cadillac Celestiq is estimated at around 300 miles, which Cadillac is banking will be enough for most owners. However, it is important to keep in mind this range is far from groundbreaking. Currently, Tesla Model S offers a driving range of up to 402 miles, while the Lucid Air sedan can go as far as 516 miles. At least charging is fast with the use of a 200 kW connection where you can get 78 miles of range with just 10 minutes of charging.

The Cadillac Celestiq EV Is Coming At The End Of 2023

Its performance suits its ultra-luxury ethos perfectly well. It's powerful and fast, but not really meant to be driven at mind-bending speeds. Comfort is the priority, and to assist with that, every Cadillac Celestiq will have an adaptive air suspension. To help maneuver this sedan which is actually longer than the full-size SUV Cadillac Escalade, rear-wheel steering is also standard, to make the turning radius smaller and help it get around tight city corners, and into tight parking spaces easier.

Since this ultra-luxury sedan will be a custom order and tailor-made for each customer, it probably won’t be found sitting in dealerships' showrooms. Due to its customizable nature, each Cadillac Celestiq will be hand-built, so expect production to be limited if not by the price, by the time it will take to roll one out of the factory. The badge shown above also brought back the Cadillac Goddess for the brand's new EV era. The release date for the Cadillac Celestiq is set for December 2023.
