The Breakout is one of the finest Harley-Davidson cruisers money can buy. But we’re firm believers things can always get better, and Russia’s Box39 is also part of the same club. So to make the FXBR even better (and showcase its skills), the shop has transformed a 2022 Breakout into an insane 150-HP beast, ripe with truckloads of top-shelf components. There’s no shortage of small but significant touches either.

The all-black aesthetic might be too simple for a few of you

In its stock form, the ‘22 Breakout employs the Milwaukee Eight 114 engine that displaces 1,868cc. Here, however, the shop has binned the new mill in favor of Harley’s 131ci (2,146cc) stage IV crate engine and paired it with a free-flow KessTech exhaust. Together, they bump the power output to 150 horsepower–a near 55-HP bump over the stock 94 horsepower. Since that’s no small increment, Box39 has upgraded the stock braking system with Brembo calipers and petal rotors.

It Rides On Öhlins Suspension

Ohlins and Brembos are rare on Harleys, but not on Box39 builds

Like the engine, the underpinnings are next-level as well. Up top, the OEM telescopic forks have made way for fancy upside-down Öhlins units, mounted onto a custom triple tree. This is paired with a custom flat handlebar and fender, where the former houses knurled grips, a Brembo master cylinder, and the OEM LCD readout.

At the opposite end, the custom cruiser relies on air suspension - the reason for the uber-low stance - and switches to a bespoke single-sided swingarm. The latter gives you a good look at the mesmerizing custom wheel (with a 280-section tire) that’s hugged by a custom fender. This is topped by a bespoke seat pan, replete with a honeycomb-pattern leather saddle.

Impressed? Well, there’s more. Look closely, and you can see the unmatched attention to detail. The belt pulley, for instance, has the same pattern as the wheels, and so does the air filter cover. Meanwhile, a closer look reveals the custom rearview mirrors, puny LED indicators, and the swingarm-mounted number plate holder. Not to mention, whatever you see here has been wrapped in gloss black, with the only contrast being the golden Ohlins inner tubes and chrome spokes on the wheels. The headlight and fuel tank remain unchanged, though.

Can You Buy This Custom Harley-Davidson Breakout?

By the looks of it, no, you can’t. Most Box39 builds are commissioned projects, and we believe this one is too. Even if it was on sale, the Russian shop is yet to commence international orders (you know why), so all you can do is enjoy this from your home. In case you’re wondering, Box39 charges roughly $80,000 for such builds–nearly four times as much as the 2023 Breakout 117’s $20,999 MSRP.
