Germany’s Rick’s Motorcycle is a certified Harley-Davidson dealership. But just like Bruce Wayne becomes Batman in the night, the shop is also one of the best custom Harley builders in the country. As a result, Rick’s portfolio is ripe with scintillating projects, one of which we’ll check out here. It is based on one of our favorite Harleys, the Fat Boy, but comes wrapped in flames to leave a long-lasting burn on you. In a good way, of course.

The Flamin’ Blue Fat Boy Has A Wide-Body Aesthetic

Chrome? There's plenty here

The Fat Boy is no compact motorcycle as it is, yet the shop has amplified its proportions to achieve a wide-body aesthetic. Credit here goes to the set of custom three-piece wheels that replace the OEM slot units and wear wider tires. The rear, in particular, flaunts a gigantic 300-section Metzeler tire mounted onto a custom swingarm and hugged by an equally wide fender. And if you have a keen eye, you’ll notice the custom disc brake (with the same pattern as the wheels) sits at the left rather than the stock right position. Meanwhile, the custom motorcycle's uber-low stance is achieved via air suspension hidden under the fender.

At the opposite end, the stock disc has made way for a custom unit (similar to the rear) while a hand-crafted fender adds some pizzaz. Between the front and rear, the shop has also tweaked the Fat Boy’s ergonomics, courtesy of an extended fuel tank, a one-up leather saddle, and a custom handlebar that sits on risers. The footboards, levers, headlight, and chunky telescopic forks remain unchanged, though, mainly to retain the Fat Boy charm.

The Milwaukee Eight 114 mill remains mostly as it is

Not much has been done to the engine. Yes, the Kess-Tech full system exhaust and custom air filter help the Milwaukee Eight 114 mill breathe freely, but it won’t do wonders to the HD-claimed 94-HP output. Yet, the shop has thrown in steel braided lines and new disc brakes (mentioned above), just to increase the braking prowess.

Finally, all this is brought together by the gorgeous livery. It’s what gives the Fat Boy its name, and wraps the bodywork - fenders, tank, side panels - in glossy blue with silver flames. The latter also works as a sidekick for the shimmering chrome across the cruiser. You’ll also appreciate the puny but effective Kellerman LEDs front and rear.
