The Harley-Davidson custom scene is deep-rooted into all parts of the world. But it’s often the places you least expect that whip up the craziest builds. Case in context here is the Miltown Moonshine built by Taiwan’s Rough Crafts. Essentially a stripped-down bobber, the custom motorcycle is so outrageous, we bet you can’t make out what HD cruiser it’s based on. Go on, take a guess, and when you’re done trying, read on to know more.

The 18-inch front and 16-inch rear wheels are both sourced from Roland Sands

Now that you’ve used up your mind, allow us to tell you the Miltown Moonshine is based on a 2020 Harley-Davidson Fat Bob. None of its bodywork remains, however, which is why it’s so hard to recognize. At the rear, Winston (founder of Rough Crafts) has binned the chopped OEM fender and accompanying struts to make way for a clean look with a self-built fender. This is topped by an upgraded monoshock and a svelte saddle to create bring the bobber idea to life. You also get a custom wheel (sourced from Roland Sands), housed on the stock swingarm.

On the opposite spectrum, things take an even classic turn. That’s because a springer fork takes over from the Fat Bob’s upside-down forks. It’s no ‘normal’ springer either, but a bespoke unit built by Rebuffini with two custom Ohlins springs. Concurrently, a round headlight (with a vertical grill) and a Roland Sands alloy wheel amp up the old-school fascia. Another noteworthy aspect here is the Rough Crafts-built fuel tank bejeweled with a billet aluminum gas cap, also by RC itself.

Though unchanged internally, the engine has received an overhaul from the outside

With the design all spruced up, it’s only fair for the engine to match. And that’s exactly what it does. The Milwaukee Eight 107 mill adorns a custom clutch housing and cover, in addition to silver engine heads and brass push rods. This brass finish also extends to the custom headers that end up in a short, but probably ear-deafening, exhaust can. Accordingly, the output should be a bit more than the 83-HP and 107 pound-feet claimed by Harley-Davidson. No need to fret, though, as the custom cruiser has six disc brakes (two for each caliper, all built by Beringer) to help you stop in a jiffy.

Finally, the entire build comes together with a plethora of nitty-gritty tweaks. This includes custom levers (foot and hand), grips, switches, and LCD instrument cluster. A closer look also reveals a forged carbon fiber texture on the bodywork, complemented by brass pinstripes and badges. Oh, and in case you think there are no turn indicators or a tail lamp, they’re neatly integrated on the swingarm.
