Royal Enfield bikes have captured the hearts of riders for decades thanks to the brand's perfect blend of retro aesthetic and modern features. The recently launched 2023 Royal Enfield Super Meteor lives up to its heritage. It is the company's biggest cruiser yet, and the first to feature premium hardware that you would normally find on high-end European and Japanese brands.

We like lots of things about this bike, but there are still a few areas where we feel the motorcycle lags behind others in its class. The upcoming Super meteor will be available to riders this year and this article aims to dissect arguments both for and against the bike and its place in the market.

10 Like: Gorgeous Looks

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor's classic cruiser design, with its beautiful curves and sleek lines, gives it a timeless appeal that will never go out of style. The bike retains the class tear-drop-shaped tank design that has been ever present on all Royal Enfields. There are lots of heritage touches, too, including vintage-inspired badges and emblems. When you're riding the Super Meteor, you can't help but feel like you're riding a work of art. Its gorgeous looks are sure to turn heads.

9 Dislike: Subpar Ride Comfort

Navigating speed bumps and potholes can be an uncomfortable experience on the Super Meteor. The rear suspension is quite stiff, and the 135mm (5.3 inches) ground clearance is too low. You will often feel the shock in your backside anytime you run over potholes. For short commutes on the bike, you should be able to reasonably deal with road imperfections, but riders that use their cruiser for long trips will find these issues frustrating. Having to slow down for even the smallest of portholes can only lead to increased fatigue and discomfort.

The Super Meteor offers plenty of options when it comes to accessories, which can help you make the bike truly your own. For instance, if you need added protection, you can opt for crash protection that will help protect your bike in case of an accident. If you're planning a long journey, saddlebags can provide much-needed storage space for your gear. And if you're looking to shield yourself from wind and debris, a windshield can make a significant difference in your riding comfort.

7 Dislike: Generic Instrument Panel

Another con of the Royal Enfield Super Meteor is its basic and generic instrument panel. It has remained the same, even though other parts of the bike have been modernized. It's true that many riders appreciate the simplicity and bare-bones nature of the instrument panel, but some others will find it lacking in important features that could enhance the overall riding experience.

The Royal Enfield Super Meteor is equipped with a powerful 650cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 46.4 horsepower, enough power to provide a thrilling riding experience for enthusiasts. The engine has a smooth and refined feel, with a linear power delivery that makes it easy to control. You will enjoy its responsive throttle and quick acceleration. Overtaking other bikes and vehicles on the highway is effortless on this bike.

5 Dislike: Inadequate Wind Protection

The lack of wind protection on the stock version can make high-speed cruising uncomfortable. It can be a particularly uncomfortable experience if you are a bit taller than the average person. Even on the higher spec Super Meteor that has a bigger windshield, you will still feel the pressure of the wind at higher speeds. You will have to consider investing in a bigger windshield if you plan on taking the bike for long trips.

4 Like: Superb Handling

If you're looking for a cruiser motorcycle with a low center of gravity that is easy to handle and maneuver, even at slow speeds, try the Super Meteor. The bike's suspension system is tuned for better handling and stability on the road. The bike is an absolute joy to ride on twisty roads, and you can take corners with ease and confidence. Overall, the Super Meteor's handling is one of its standout features, and it is one of the most nimble and agile new cruisers on the market.

3 Dislike: Not So Gutsy Exhaust Note

Although the Royal Enfield Super Meteor has a decent exhaust note, it lacks the characteristic thump that Royal Enfield bikes are known for. The sound is more subdued than expected, which is the exact opposite of what most riders want from their cruiser. It does get better at higher speeds, but if you really want a thumper, you may have to resort to aftermarket exhaust systems or modifications to enhance the bike's sound.

LED lighting is no longer a novel feature in the motorcycle industry. But this is the first time we are seeing LED lights on a Royal Enfield. The Super Meteor LED headlamp and tail light not only enhance the bike's aesthetic appeal but also improve visibility and safety on the road. The lighting is more efficient and brighter than traditional incandescent bulbs, making it easier for you to see and be seen in all lighting conditions. This is especially important for night riding or during inclement weather.

1 Dislike: Standard Seat Is Only Moderately Comfortable

What you're looking at is the most modern Royal Enfield yet

While the Royal Enfield Super Meteor's standard seat offers a decent level of comfort, they will be grossly impractical for riders who plan to spend extended periods on the bike. On the Interstellar variant, the seat is much better, but the pillion seat is very uncomfortable. Fortunately, there are many aftermarket seat options available that can provide a higher level of comfort and support. These seats may come with additional padding, gel inserts, or other features designed to improve comfort and reduce fatigue.
