A few weeks ago, spy shots of the new Harley-Davidson CVO Road Glide and Street Glide broke the internet. Now, it seems the cruisers have inched a step closer to launch, as the American giant has officially certified the latter. Not only that, but the official documents also include images of the production-ready CVO Street Glide, which reveal some scrumptious details. Let’s dive in.
The New Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide Flexes A Fresh Design
One of the biggest changes comes to the bagger’s design. Gone is the old-school round headlight and in comes a new square-ish all-LED unit. This is bejeweled into a redesigned batwing fairing with aggressive edges and pairs with sleek LED DRLs at each side of the headlight. A similar treatment follows outback too, courtesy of the new saddlebags, vertical tail lamps, and new exhausts. Bringing it all together is a reshaped fuel tank that flows down to the new, thicker-padded two-up saddle.
As for the features, the spy shots give us a good look at the cruiser’s new instrument cluster. Unlike the current model, there are no analog dials, just a massive - probably TFT - display with two speakers and fairing-integrated mirrors. This display should give you access to smartphone connectivity, updated rider electronics, and an electronic windscreen, among other features.
The New Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide Has New Engine And Underpinnings
Elsewhere, the new Street Glide rides on new wire-spoke wheels, identical to BMW’s Cross Spoke wheels (seen on the R 1250 GS), and come wrapped in tubeless tires. These are attached to beefy upside-down forks up top that replace the ancient telescopic units on the 2022 CVO Street Glide. A closer look also reveals the new floating disc brakes, clamped with four-piston Brembo calipers–a rarity on such Harleys.
But why the spruced-up brakes? Well, because there’s a new engine lurking under the skin. Yes, the new CVO will bid adieu to its 1,923cc engine and feature an all-new 121ci (see the air intake lettering) V-twin. Though its likely an air-cooled unit, the mill has a new timing and transmission cover to welcome the variable valve timing system. We could also see a quickshifter here–after all, it’s becoming the new norm for expensive motorcycles.
The 2024 Harley-Davidson CVO Street Glide Will Break Cover Soon
Given the official documents, the CVO Street Glide’s launch is around the corner. We expect it to debut in a few months’ time, alongside the updated CVO Road Glide loaded with identical updates. The interesting aspect, however, will be the price hike, as the cruiser already costs a bombshell $41,899. Nevertheless, even with the price hike, the cruiser will continue to lock horns with the Indian Challenger Elite. So will we see a $50,000 Street Glide soon? And would you consider it at this price?
