After the 2019 Harley-Davidson LiveWire, the MoCo made us wait nearly four years for its next EV, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar. But before you complain, this wait has now reaped a major reward as Harley-Davidson’s all-electric sub-brand has slashed the price of the S2 Del Mar by $1,500. The news comes just months after LiveWire announced the S2’s launch has been postponed to the second half of 2023, along with a dip in the production number from around 7,000 units to a measly 750 to 2,000 units.

The LiveWire S2 Del Mar Will Now Sell For $15,499

With the price cut, the LiveWire S2 Del Mar will now cost you just $15,499 instead of the previous $16,999 suggested MSRP. This puts it right in the ballpark of Harley’s originally planned $15,000 figure for the EV, but it also makes it one of the most affordable electrics from a reputed brand. Besides this, LiveWire has also announced the S2 Del Mar Launch Edition in Europe, priced at €20,190 in France, €19,990 in Germany, €20,390 in the Netherlands, and £18,990 in Britain. The sale begins on April 27, 2023, at 4 pm CET.

At its new price, the S2 Del Mar sits just $2,500 shy of the Zero DS and S electric motorcycles, which is pretty solid when you consider Zero is an EV specialist while HD is still quite new to the electric sector. It also shows Harley has learned from its mistakes since the sky-high price tag was the 2019 LiveWire’s Achilles heel.

So what do you get for the money? For starters, the new LiveWire will employ a 59.6kW motor with 184 pound-feet, good enough for a zero to 60mph sprint in just 3.1 seconds. The battery, meanwhile, promises a 110-mile city range and a 75-minute juice-up time (20 to 80 percent) via the level two charging ability. Yes, the numbers are not too impressive, but hey, these should make it a solid commuter with occasional freeway abilities. All the figures are tentative, though, and LiveWire says they are “subject to change”.

Elsewhere, the S2 Del Mar flexes a simple yet unique design, reminiscent of flat track racers. There’s minimal bodywork, an edgy tail, and beefy tires, complete with nitty-gritty like the bar-end mirrors and swingarm number plate holder. All this, together with Sportster S-inspired LEDs, makes it a good-looking EV (at least in our books). You also get a digital instrument cluster, bar-end mirrors, dual-channel ABS, and Brembo brakes. Again, the full specifications are yet to come out.

Finally, if you like what you see, you should head to LiveWire’s website to book the S2 Del Mar. The sooner you do that, the sooner you’ll receive the EV once the deliveries commence in July 2023. And if waiting isn’t an option, we suggest you stretch the budget and take home the already available $22,799 LiveWire One instead.
