Founded in 2016, the Indian electric motorcycle company, Ultraviolette is getting a lot of attention as of late. In late 2022, they launched the F77, and just a few weeks ago, they announced their entry into the world of electric motorsport with the F99 Factory Racing Platform.

With an aggressive, modern design, the bike is a real looker, which is no coincidence as Ultraviolette understands that design is important to consumers. It caters to people at an emotional level, and that’s why its motorcycle design has not only to be functional but also beautiful to look at. Simply put, it has to make a statement.

The Ultraviolette F99 platform has a faceplate instead of headlights for improved aerodynamics, and it also has winglets, inspired by aviation technology, which help direct fresh air to the battery pack, and electric motor, helping them operate at optimum temperatures. This aviation technology has inspired other interesting features as well, such as the lack of visible bolts or screws anywhere on the design of the motorcycle. It’s something most people won’t notice, but their brains will subconsciously tell them there’s something different going on with this design, and in a good kind of way.RELATED: Video: Watch Ducati's All-electric Race Bike Set The Race Track On Fire

Engineered From The Ground Up

The rider triangle is, supposedly, track-oriented, but can be adjusted for different-sized riders. The motorcycle is engineered to ensure safe operation, whether if it’s how the battery management system or the bike’s 9-axis Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU) works, Ultraviolette has integrated protection mechanisms and protocols that come into action in microseconds if needed. These systems are constantly running in the background, and the rider doesn’t have to worry or think about them, being free to concentrate on the ride itself. The bike is also engineered to make the most of the electric powertrain that makes 65 horsepower, and is good for a 0-60 time of about 4.5 seconds, and a claimed top speed of 125 MPH.

The F99 uses Pirelli Diablo Supercorsa soft compound tires. It has hydraulic disk brakes with dual channel Bosch ABS system, with the front disk brake having a fixed setup with 4 pistons, while the rear has a single-piston, floating caliper setup. To rule out any doubt this is a track-oriented bike, even the seat has a slimmer, and stiffer foam.

Ultraviolette seems to be taking its performance-oriented motorcycle DNA seriously. They even have plans to launch their own racing league by 2035. These are ambitious goals for sure, but planning years ahead is good for business as it gives them a point of reference to guide their decisions. Other such plans include a full lineup of electric motorcycles by 2025, and the construction of a futuristic factory by 2027. A charging infrastructure should begin taking shape by 2024. By 2030, Ultraviolette aims to be a world-renowned high performance electric motorcycle brand.

Not a lot was disclosed about the F99 Racing Platform. However, its sibling with 38.8 horsepower and 75 pound-feet of torque, the production model F77, can be used as a point of reference. It has a top speed of 95 MPH, and a 0-60 time of about 7.8 seconds. It also has the largest battery pack of any Indian electric motorcycle with a capacity of 10.3 kWh, which is good for a range of around 190 miles, according to Indian range testing standards. Niraj Rajmohan, Ultraviolette's Chief Technology Officer and co-founder claim this battery pack is so advanced, that they get requests from aerospace and military industries for it.

The company’s founders met while they were in engineering school. Narayan Subramanian (CEO), and Niraj Rajmohan (CTO) engaged in several projects during their time studying engineering, and they’ve got a chance to build all sorts of different things. Being the prodigies that they are, they decided to combine efforts and create Ultraviolette Automotive.

They approach their product with a more innovative mindset, rather than wanting to improve upon what’s already available. They realize that when it comes to EVs, they are at a moment in time when they can help shape and define the industry, and more so with performance motorcycles, which they decided to focus on with Ultraviolette. Their passion for motorcycles is very noticeable, and they understand that for most people, motorcycles aren’t simply a way from getting from A to B, but so much more than that. To mark the beginning of their production of F77 models, Ultraviolette has prepared a limited launch edition that will run from model number 001 to 077. This limited edition has a unique color scheme, and a couple more horsepower.

The founders claimed the two specific reasons that drove them to pursue the creation of Ultraviolette were the emotional experience of high performance motorcycles, and the fact that, at the time, the technology for a high performance electric motorcycle didn’t exist. The challenge seems to have drawn them further in, and the company’s current 100+ team of employees understand this vision. They work hard at solving difficult problems every day, and strive to build the best electric motorcycles they can, and they’ll soon reach Stateside.
